Try-On: Mango

It may be that time of year, but I have been going crazy with my shopping! To be fair this purchase was part of Mango’s Black Friday 30% off sale. Also, my philosophy with shopping is that it doesn’t hurt to at least try it. I live in the city so returning is fairly easy and can just stop by the store after work. I purchased 5 items in the sale and here’s my review for each:

Mockneck Sweater (size small), $39.99

Keeping this – really happy with the quality and fit. Looks the same as the photo. I can see myself wearing this sweater a lot this season!

Black Short-Sleeve Blouse (size small), $49.99

Maybe – the quality is decent, but I don’t think I can justify the price. Luckily with the 30% off sale it was slightly cheaper at $34.99, but since the sale is over and this blouse is back to full-price, I would not recommend spending $49.99 on this top. Even $34.99 is pretty steep! It looks super cute on the model though and I can see myself wearing this time and time again so it’s a maybe…

Burgundy Turtleneck Sweater (size small), $59.99

Probably – similar to the previous item, I think this is over-priced, but with the sale, I got this for $41.99 which is still pretty high. Also, the turtleneck is a bit too high and as you can see there is a lot of excess fabric around the neck area. I think I might keep this though as I love the color and the knit is pretty thick, perfect for cold winter days.

Black Cardigan (size small), $29.99

Keeping – (apologies for the terrible photo quality) Regularly priced at $29.99, I do think this is appropriately priced. I’ve been looking for a simple black button-less cardigan to wear in the office when it gets a bit too cold. I previously bought one from Topshop, but couldn’t keep it as it was way over-priced. It’s a good quality cardigan that’s not too short or too long. They come in a couple other super-versatile colors too!

Ecru Puffer Jacket (size small), $129.99

Maybe (but probably not) – when I pulled this out of the packaging I thought I was going to absolutely love it. The fabric is super soft and silky! However I put it on, and it’s… not exactly what I expected. The color and the fabric are lovely, but I don’t think the silhouette suits me. This puffer jacket might be a bit too large on my frame; as you can see in the photos there’s a lot of fabric around the neck area. I would size down, but I think the sleeves might be a bit too snug. The small’s sleeves are good as is and even might be a bit tight if I put a thick sweater underneath, so I don’t know if X-Small will be much better. The tie detail is a nice touch however and differentiates it from a lot of other puffers. The reason I bought this was I wanted a warm, long, stylish puffer coat. I think this would be good for others, but might not be the puffer coat for me. As far as the warmth, I haven’t worn this outside, but from wearing a bit around the apartment, it feels super warm and it’s lined on the inside so it should block out the wind.

Overall: There were some hits and sort of misses, so overall I give this a good thumbs up! I love Mango and I think at Mango you can definitely find some hits! The overall quality of their pieces are great. One piece of advice is to shop the sales. You may have to wait a bit, but a lot of their pieces eventually go on sale. The Thanksgiving sale is in the past, but if they follow last year, they should have a winter sale coming soon!
